Schwarzbeck Active Loop Antennas / Magnetic Field Probes Matrix

Schwarzbeck Overview Active Loop Antennas - Magnetic Field Probes Data Sheet FMZB 15XX Active Receiving Loop Antenna family

The probes of the FMZB-family measure only magnetic field strength and use e-field shielding.

This is also true when fictitious efield strength is derived from magnetic field strength via the characteristic field impedance of the free space. Fictitious electric field strength has been used for many years. Especially in the common am frequency ranges the field-strength of broadcast transmitters was measured under far field conditions. Similar basic circuits are used for the FMZB probes. Only the dynamic range is shifted.

For one probe there are different conversion factors for the calculation of fictitious electric and magnetic field strength level. They differ by 51,5 dB and so at least one of the conversion factors will be «odd» and inconvenient. For this reason conversion factors (antenna factors) of the magnetic field-strength adapter FMZB 1516 and of the hand-held probes FMZB 1517 and FMZB 1527 are optimized for the calculation of the fictitious electric field strength level in dBmV/m.

Conversion factors (antenna factors) of the newer hand-held probes FMZB 1537, FMZB 1538, FMZB 1547 and FMZB 1548 are optimized for the calculation of the magnetic field strength level in dBmA/m. The magnetic field strength adapter FMZB 1516 has best sensitivity due to its large loop, followed by FMZB 1517, FMZB 1537 and FMZB 1538. Very strong field-strength is covered by the FMZB 1527 and especially FMZB 1547 and FMZB 1548. The FMZB 1537 and FMZB 1547 get their power supply via the coaxial cable and therefor need a power supply separator on the receiver input. A separate power supply cable is obsolete. When a separate power supply cable is no problem, always use FMZB 1538 or FMZB 1548, because no power supply separator is needed.
