    Emissions Reference Source (ERS)

    The ERS from Laplace Instruments is a comb generator that radiates RF continuously every 2MHz over the range 30MHz - 1000MHz.
    Each 2MHz peak is precisely measured during the calibration process with the ERS orientated both vertically and horizontally. These measurements are correlated against a 3m OATS such that any fully implemented CISPR16 site, measuring at 3m and using height scanning, will read the same.
    In practice, informal sites and test chambers will produce significant differences due to the presence of reflections and/or lack of height scanning.
    The ERS allows these differences to be quantified and EUT measurements can then be corrected.
    This technique substantially improves the measurement accuracy of radiated emissions on all but the best test sites.

    FEATURES

    The ERS helps to eliminate the main cause of uncertainty (error) when measuring radiated emissions. These errors are entirely due to the reflections from any nearby metallic objects or surfaces. Also, the ground reflection is a source of error if not using a metallic ground plane and height scanning. Generally, these reflections will account for errors up to 20dB, far too much for compliance measurements.

     

    By replacing the EUT with the ERS, performing a scan and comparing the results with the calibration data, the errors can be quantified and the results from the EUT adjusted accordingly. This technique generally reduces errors to around 6dB, comparable with test laboratory results.

    Laplace Instruments RF700, 30MHz high pass filter

    RF700, 30MHz high pass filter, which blocks all signals below 30MHz. This is most useful as (in general) there can be high levels of RF noise at these lower frequencies which can cause compression issues in the analyses. Because the radiated emission bands start at 30MHz, attenuating these lower frequencies improves performance without affecting any measurements.

    COMPREHENSIVE
    The RF200 is designed to cover the whole range from 30MHz to 1GH
    in one sweep. No need to change antenna part way through the scan.

    CALIBRATION
    The RF2xx design is fully calibrated on the 10m OATS site at NPL. This data is included with each antenna. For emissions measurement, the RF200 is used in conjunction with the SA1020 per-amplifier. This 'head' amplifier improves sensitivity and decouples the output lead from the antenna, avoiding
    spurious cable influences on the results.

    The RFxx range are specifically designed for general use as EMC emissions measurement antennas. They combine excellent broadband characteristics with high sensitivity and sturdy
    construction.
    Although primarily used with the Laplace range of analyzers and receivers, they can be used with any other receiver and are supplied with full calibration data so that antenna factors can be entered into
    any third party system.
     
    In order to achieve optimum performance stability, the RF200 is designed to work with the SA1020 pre-amplifier, located at the head of the support.
    This improves sensitivity and ensures that cable configuration does not affect results.
    The RF200 is supplied complete with rigid stand and the RF230 is complete with an all plastic miniature tripod.
